Wertzbaugher Services Donates $5,000 to Muscatine County Fair Event Center

WEST LIBERTY, IA- Wertzbaugher Services, owned and operated by Jason and Lisa Wertzbaugher, has donated $5,000 to the Muscatine County Event Center.

The Wertzbaughers live just west of West Liberty with their children Bo, Ruby, and Eve. In addition to the fabrication shop, they raise row crop in the West Liberty area.

Jason and Lisa started Wertzbaugher Services, a custom welding and fabrication manufacturer, in 2011 out at their farm west of West Liberty. Within a few years their business outgrew their shop at the farm and they bought a building on the west side of West Liberty just off of Highway Six to give the business more room to grow. Their company is versatile in both repairing and making items, from repairing construction, agriculture, and commercial equipment, all the while expanding into various types of welding including MIG for carbon steel, stainless aluminum and MIG galvanized steel. Fabrication projects have expanded from commercial trailer repair to building structures, ag implements repair, truss work, and custom fabrication.

“We are so lucky to have Jason and Lisa and their family involved with the fair. They are critical in helping the fair be a success. They are a great family who are always willing to help out. And we are so fortunate that Jason donates his welding and fabricating services here at the fair. We are also so thankful for all the guidance Lisa has been able to give in fundraising for the event center.” Said Kelsey Meyers, Muscatine County Fair Manager.

Jason joined the fair board in 2013 and since then Jason and Lisa have volunteered many hours at the fair. Jason brings in his skid steer each year for the demo derby during the fair and for several of the work days in preparation for the fair. Jason was also very instrumental in helping build one of the water trucks for the track and he also helps with a lot of welding projects at the fair. Jason and Lisa also make regular purchases at the 4-H & FFA ribbon auction during the fair, and both have served on several committees at the fair too.

The new event center will be a modern facility with the ability to seat 500 people. A white board and batten exterior will be showcased on the outside of the building with landscaping providing the beautiful finishing touches. This elegant modern facility will enable the fair to compete for regional events and family gatherings that currently leave the county seeking a venue of this nature and size. The Wertzbaugher’s donation is going towards the board and batten exterior finish. They understand the importance of a first impression when seeing the building and how that will drive rentals.

“We are excited about the economic opportunity this new facility will bring to Muscatine County.  It will be a great asset in retaining revenue and events that are currently utilizing venues outside our area.  We hope to see the fair benefit and capitalize on the growth.” Said, Jason and Lisa Wertzbaugher.

The Wertzbaughers are one of many families and businesses stepping forward to give to the project and fundraising has topped $1,144,155 with a goal to reach $2,000,000.

“The fundraising has given us a great boost and helped keep the project on schedule. I want to thank Jason and Lisa for their gift and for all they do both for the fair and for everyone in West Liberty. We are so lucky to have them in our community.” Said Kelsey Meyers.
