West Liberty, IA – The family of Dave Dvorak has donated $10,000 as a memorial gift to the Event Center at the Muscatine County Fair. Dave, who lived just north of West Liberty, passed away in October 2023.
Dave grew up in rural Wilton and graduated from Wilton High School in 1979. He later earned a B.S. in Agricultural Business and Farm Management from Iowa State University and completed the Executive Program for Agricultural Producers at Texas A&M. After college, he returned to Muscatine County and began farming in 1984, continuing his work in agriculture until his passing.
Fair time was always Dave’s favorite time of year. He was especially proud that he attended the Muscatine County Fair every year of his life, where he looked forward to the grandstand concerts, the Demo Derby, and plenty of fresh lemonade. Even after his kids, Casey and John, went off to college and moved to other states, Dave continued buying them Fun Passes “just in case” they came home for fair week. He also made sure all his employees and friends had Fun Passes, handing them out generously and joyfully so more people could experience the fair alongside him. Simply put, Dave loved the fair.
As a child, Dave was active in both 4-H and FFA, and he remained a strong supporter of both organizations throughout his adult life.
“After Dad passed, we knew we wanted to donate in his name to a local organization, and the Fair was the obvious choice,” said Casey Dvorak. “We are hoping this donation will help provide lasting memories for more families in the years to come.”
