West Liberty, IA- West Liberty area residents, Adam and Tammy Feldman, are giving the Muscatine County Fair $25,000 for the new event center. The Feldmans live on a farm south of Atalissa and their whole family has been active in the fair. They have three children, Nick (Becky) Feldman, Jason (Ashley) Feldman, and Abby (Edgar) Ortiz. They also have eight grandchildren.
Adam’s commitment to supporting the Muscatine County Fair stems from his involvement in 4-H & FFA himself showing hogs. He was elected to the fair board in 2000 and has been a dedicated board member, serving on several committees, and is now an excellent advisory board member. Adam was extremely instrumental in the Restoration of the Hog Barn in 2015 and served as Fair Board President in 2014 and 2015, and was awarded Honorary Fair Board Member in 2022. Over the years Adam and his wife Tammy have spent many nights working the races, working in the kitchen and serving customers, and Adam returning many times that following week to make repairs. Tammy has fond memories of working concessions with her dad when he was on the board. Adam and Tammy both have a deep love for family, kids, and the people they have met along the way through all of their fair adventures.
“We are so lucky to have Adam and Tammy and their whole family involved with the fair. They are critical in helping the fair be a success. They are a great family who are always willing to help out. We are so fortunate that Adam volunteers to bring in his equipment and donates his time to help with projects and events here at the fair.” Said Kelsey Meyers, Muscatine County Fair Manager.
Adam and Tammy have poured their love of the fair into their kids, Nick, Jason, Abby, and their grandkids. Nick, Jason, and Abby are swine superintendents, and all showed hogs growing up in 4-H and FFA. They also all exhibited static projects in the 4-H building. The grandkids are now showing hogs and exhibiting static projects, and the younger grandchildren are active in clover kids 4-H.
“Our whole family loves the fair and we want to support it so that our grandkids get to experience all the things that both of us and our kids have experienced.” Said Tammy Feldman.
The new event center will be a modern facility that will enable the fair to compete for family gatherings and regional events that are currently leaving the county to seek a venue of this nature and size. The new event center will also be the space where 4-H and FFA static exhibits are exhibited during the fair. This space will also be able to be utilized by 4-H and FFA groups throughout the year to host meetings and fundraisers.
“The new event center will be a great addition to the fair and will make a positive impact on the whole county and our community. I’m excited to see what the future holds with the new event center.” Said Adam Feldman.
The Feldman’s are one of many families stepping forward to give to the project and fundraising has topped $1,160,955 with a goal to reach $2,000,000.
“The project is progressing on schedule to break ground in March and we will be announcing a groundbreaking date at our Weekend for the Fair Fundraiser this weekend. The fundraising has given us a huge boost and I want to thank Adam and Tammy for their gift and for all they do for the fair.” Said Kelsey Meyers.
