River Valley Cooperative Donates $5,000 to Muscatine County Fair Event Center

WEST LIBERTY, IA – River Valley Cooperative has contributed $5,000 toward the new Event Center at the Muscatine County Fairgrounds.

Founded in 1905, River Valley Cooperative is celebrating 120 years of serving Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. With its central office in Mt. Joy and more than 40 locations, including Durant and Sunbury, the cooperative is deeply rooted in communities across the region. Many of its member-owners, employees, and customers call Muscatine County home and have long-standing ties to the Muscatine County Fair.

“The Muscatine County Fair honors our agricultural heritage, supports youth through 4-H and FFA, and brings the community together,” said Jayne Carstensen, Communication Specialist at River Valley Cooperative. “We are proud to support the new event center because building strong communities and investing in youth are at the heart of our mission.”

The nearly 17,000-square-foot event center will feature a large hall, prep kitchen, meeting room, spacious patio, and modern restrooms. Construction is on schedule, with siding and framing complete and crews now working on painting, insulation, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.

Reservations for 2026 events are now being accepted. Details can be found at www.thekentcenter.com.

“I can’t thank River Valley Cooperative enough for their donation and for everything they do for the fair,” said Muscatine County Fair Manager Kelsey Meyers. “From supporting livestock shows and static exhibits to now helping make the event center a reality, River Valley has always stepped up for our kids and our community.”

Those interested in contributing to the Event Center project can contact Kelsey Meyers at the Muscatine County Fair Office at 319-627-2414 or email [email protected].
