Muscatine County Cattlemen Donate $5,000 to Event Center at the Fair

WEST LIBERTY, IA- On Friday, May 9th the Muscatine County Cattlemen had their yearly ribeye steak sandwich lunch fundraiser at Fred’s Feed and Supply in West Liberty. At the fundraiser, the Muscatine County Cattlemen donated $5,000 to the new Event Center at the Muscatine County Fair.

“The Muscatine County Cattlemen are excited to participate in the fundraising efforts for the new event center.” Said Ron Cox, president of Muscatine County Cattlemen.

The Muscatine County Cattlemen organization does steak sandwich fundraisers twice a year, once in May during Beef Month and then again during the fair each year. The Muscatine County Cattlemen hosts their yearly banquet at the fairgrounds each January as well. The Cattlemen give back in several ways, through scholarships for seniors, awards at the cattle show during the fair, and last year, the Cattlemen purchased a new scale for beef weigh-ins at the fair.

The new event center will be the location for the static projects during the fair in July each year. It will also have meeting space in the new building for 4-H clubs, along with other clubs and organizations to utilize for meetings.

“I can’t thank the Muscatine County Cattlemen enough for their support with this project and all the other projects they have helped with at the fair over the years. I think the Cattlemen are just as excited about the new event center as we are.” Said Kelsey Meyers, Muscatine County Fair Manager.

Anyone wanting to donate to the project or sponsor an area of the project can contact Kelsey Meyers at the Muscatine County Fair Office at 319-627-2414 or at [email protected].
